What is SIL?

Supported Independent Living, also referred to as SIL, is a NDIS funded support that enables participants to live as independently as possible, where, and how they choose. Some SIL participants will be eligible to live in a shared home, while others may choose to live alone. Depending on your funding and preferences, our team will help you find your perfect home!

At this residence, support is provided by an experienced and caring team. They’ll help you with daily life tasks and assist you in developing the skills required for independent living – including helping you to connect with activities and other supports in the community. Support is tailored to help you achieve the goals in your NDIS Plan.

Who will you be living with?

  • A 20 year old resident who likes to listen to music and socialise in the community. He has started a new day program and is loving living in his own home.
  • A 30 year old resident who is very independent and loves to have a chat. He works most days of the week at the Ford factory. He is also enjoying living in his own home and being active in the community. He has a great sense of humour and likes to socialise.
  • A female in her late 20’s enjoys attending a day program 4 days per week and 1 day of community access. She likes to listen to music, watch TV and socialise with friends and family.  She is currently working on her cooking skills, preparing meals, and building her independence skills.
     
     

Who for

Participants that have an NDIS package with Supported Independent Living services included, and an appropriate level of funding.

Outcome statement

Be supported to develop your confidence to live independently and achieve the goals in your NDIS plan.

How to access

Applicants must have an NDIS plan with relevant funding and have the financial means to pay for the rent/board and utilities.
